About the property...

The cottage is built on a 30,000 sq ft lot. The image above shows the winding, unpaved driveway that brings you to the garage (not open) and cottage entrance from the private access road.

The cottage was built in the late 50's and my family added a master bedroom and 2nd bathroom in the early 80's. The cabin is carpeted throughout. Everything about the place is geared toward comfort and relaxation. The furniture is all upholstered and overstuffed.

Much of the rustic charm of the original place remains in this 1,500 sq ft cottage. The solid pine-board living area is dominated by a sandstone wood-burning fireplace with a limestone hearth. A wood burning stove sits adjacent to the fireplace and faces the small, open kitchen.

One the best feature of the cottage is the 50 linear feet of floor-to- ceiling windows that open to the boathouse deck and then to the lake beyond. One truly feels the outside, inside.

About the lake...

Property

The Interlochen Cabin Rental is a part of Penn Lock Colony, a private community that comprises all properties located on the peninsula that cuts Green Lake into two parts. The peninsula's placement means that there is generally smooth water somewhere at all times, which is great news for water skiing and PWC enthusiasts.

My family has always believed that the 2,000 acre Green Lake was the perfect size...not too big, not too small. Boats of all kinds can safely navigate the waters. Even with Interlochen State Park's access to the lake, Green Lake is never overwhelmed with watercraft.

With a Michigan license, those that like to fish can take advantage of some of the best lake fishing Northern Michigan has to offer. As the map of the lake shows, the lake is surprisingly deep so fish that like cooler, deeper water are available to skilled anglers.
